Support Services Available

Health Services

At Confederation College, the Health Centre on the Thunder Bay campus is staffed by a physician and a nurse practitioner, who provide medical services by appointment, and through drop-in or same day appointments when possible.

Counselling Services

Confederation College offers Counselling Services for any student who may be experiencing stressful events in their life.

Academic Support

The Academic Success Centre at Confederation College offers peer tutoring and drop-in professional tutoring to students in a variety of subjects.

 

Library Services

The Paterson Library Commons at Confederation College offers various resources for students including databases, journals, e-books, and e-videos. The Paterson Library Commons also provides services for students such as borrowing services, course reserves, and interlibrary loans.

Academic Advising

Confederation College’s Student Success Advisors provides services such as assistance with course selection, adding and dropping courses, and alternate program pathways.

Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards

Confederation College Financial Aid offers a range of financial assistance which consists of merit-based scholarships, need-based bursaries, and awards based on academic achievement. Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

Confederation College’s Residence Office offers on-campus housing for students, Sibley Hall Residence and Spruce and Cedar Houses, on the Thunder Bay campus, on a first-come, first-served basis for first year students. Sibley Hall is a traditional style residence and has five different room styles: open single (private washroom), open double (private washroom), dorm super single, dorm single and dorm double. Spruce and Cedar Houses offer apartment style accommodations. Each apartment comes equipped with 4 private bedrooms, 2 washrooms, laundry machines, a full kitchen and living space. Building amenities for traditional style residences include:

  • Common lounges
  • Common study areas
  • Common kitchens
  • Access to a 24/7 front desk
  • Maintenance
  • Laundry facilities

All rooms come furnished and include internet access, local telephone calls, and digital cable television (accessible using personal computers) . Residence rates vary depending on building and room choice. Mandatory meal plans are an additional cost, and operate on a declining balance system. Payment plans for residence fees are available.  

Requests for barrier-free rooms are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Campus Accessibility

Campus maps are available for Confederation College's campus buildings, as well as a virtual tour. 

Thunder Bay Transit

Thunder Bay Transit is comprised of buses. Full-time students at Confederation College receive a Universal Bus Pass (U-Pass), which provides unlimited access to Thunder Bay Transit, included in their tuition. Maps and schedules are provided for every transit route that Thunder Bay Transit provides.

Accessibility

Thunder Bay Transit offers accessible transit with features such as low floors, kneeling capabilities, priority seating, and automated call stop announcements. Thunder Bay Transit offers a Support Person Pass, which allows users of the transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost.

Thunder Bay Transit offers Lift+ which is a door-to-door specialized transit system, designed for persons with disabilities who are unable to use the conventional transit system. More information about Lift+ and the eligibility guidelines and application is provided on their website.
