Support Services Available

Health Services

The Atkin Family Wellness Centre at the Sarnia campus is open to all Lambton students and is staffed by a full-time registered nurse and part-time physicians.

Counselling Services

The Counselling Centre at Lambton College offers counselling for any student who may be experiencing stressful events in their life.

Academic Support

Tutoring Services offers peer tutoring for students who are having academic difficulties at the Sarnia campus. 

Library Services

The Library Resource Centre at Lambton College's Sarnia campus offers various resources for students including databases, journals, e-books, and e-videos. The centre also offers services for students including borrowing services, referencing services, audio visual materials, and library research assistance.

Lambton College offers academic counselling for students who would like to learn more about program options, are experiencing timetable concerns, or are struggling in a course or program.

Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards

Lambton College’s Financial Aid Office offers a range of  financial assistance which consists of merit-based scholarships, need-based bursaries, and awards based on academic achievement. Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

Lambton College’s Housing Office offers accommodation to over 280 students at the Sarnia campus in traditional style residence. Residence allocation operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Once capacity has been reached, students will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a bed becomes available. Traditional style residence units include a double occupancy room and a shared washroom. Building amenities include:

  • Common lounges
  • Common study areas
  • Common kitchens
  • Computer lab
  • Access to a front desk
  • Maintenance
  • Laundry facilities

All rooms in residence are furnished and include internet access, local telephone service, and cable television. Residence rates vary per year and include the cost of a mandatory meal plan.

Off-Campus Housing

Lambton College students can access off-campus housing information at Places4Students Sarnia, and Places4Students Toronto. Students will find advertisements from landlord on available housing.

Campus Accessibility

Lambton College offers campus maps for the Sarnia campuses.

Sarnia Transit

Sarnia Transit is comprised of buses. Full-time students at Lambton College are eligible for discounted semester passes. Sarnia Transit offers route maps and timetables for every transit route.

Accessibility

Sarnia Transit offers accessible services with features such as low floors, kneeling features, and automated bus stop announcement. If a person requires a support person to ride with them, they can apply for the support person ID which allows the support person to travel free of charge.

The Care-A-Van is a door-to-door service for persons with physical disabilities, who due to their disability are unable to travel on the conventional transit. More about Care-A-Van and the eligibility guidelines and application, visit their site directly.

Toronto Transit

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is comprised of subways, buses, and streetcars. A discounted Post-Secondary Student Monthly Metro Pass is available for purchase for full-time students at Lambton College. Schedules and maps are provided for each of the TTC transit options.

Accessibility

The TTC offers accessible services on both their buses and subways. Accessible services on buses include kneeling features, ramps, lifts, automated next stop announcements, wheel chair and scooter positions, and priority seating. The subways provide accessible services such as wheel chair positions and priority seating. There are elevators at half of the subway stations, with the goal of the remaining stations to be accessible by 2025.

The TTC offers the Support Person Assistance Card which allows users of the transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost. Persons interested in the support program must fill out the application form.

Wheel-Trans is a service that provides door-to-door accessible transit service for persons with physical disabilities. The TTC has established eligibility guidelines for the use of Wheel-Trans. Persons seeking to use Wheel-Trans must participate in an in-person interview. 

Mississauga Transit

The Mississauga Transit (Miway) is comprised of buses. Full-time student at Humber College are eligible for the post-secondary discounted pass. Miway offers Routes and Schedules for each of their bus routes.

Accessibility

Miway provides accessible buses with features such as floor and kneeling capabilities, two wheelchair and scooter securement areas, external bus announcements which will announce what bus is arriving, and automated next stop announcements.

MiWay offers the Support Person Pass which allows users of the transit system who require a support person to have this person travel with them at no additional cost.

The regional municipality of Peel has created Transhelp which offers a door-to-door transit service for persons who are unable to ride conventional transit due to a functional mobility disability. More information about Transhelp, including eligibility guidelines and the application process, is available on their website.
