The Student Wellness Centre provides a range of health services to students during their time at McMaster.

The Student Success Centre at McMaster University offers a variety of services to support students, including: Writing Support Services, peer tutoring, workshops, and career services. 

Library Services

McMaster University offers four libraries in their library system. The libraries provide various resources for students including databases, journals, e-books, and e-videos. Academic support for students to help students with their learning and writing skills is provided at the Mills Learning Commons.

Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards

McMaster University’s Student Financial Aid & Scholarships office offers a range of financial assistance which consists of merit-based scholarships, need-based bursaries, and awards based on academic achievement. Residence and Housing

On-Campus Housing

McMaster University’s Residence and Conference Services offers residence to 3,600 students in 12 traditional style residence buildings. Residence is not guaranteed to first year students and operates on a lottery system. Approximately 3,000 spaces in residence are reserved for first year students. McMaster University offers themed, co-ed and single gender floors, with the majority of first year students being placed in double rooms. Residence units include single and double rooms with shared or communal washrooms. All buildings include:

  • Common lounges
  • Common study rooms
  • Common kitchens
  • Access to a 24/7 front desk
  • Maintenance
  • Laundry facilities

All rooms are furnished and include internet access and local telephone service. Residence rates vary depending on the building choice and room style. Meal plans are mandatory and are included in the cost of residence. Various plans are available and operate on a declining balance system.

Barrier-free rooms are available for students with special accommodation needs. Students are required to fill out the Special Accommodations Request form online when applying for residence.

Off-Campus Housing

McMaster University's Off-Campus Resource Centre (OCRC) offers an accommodation listing service, where landlords can advertise rental properties available.

Hamilton Transit

The Hamilton Street Railway Company (HSR) is comprised of buses. Full-time students at McMaster University receive a bus pass included in their tuition. Schedules are provided for each HSR bus route.

Accessibility

The HSR provides accessible transit services on their buses. All buses are equipped with Accessible Low Floors (ALF), ramps, and designated seating areas for persons with wheelchairs and scooters.

The Accessible Transportation Services (ATS) administers the multiple accessible transportation services in Hamilton including the Disabled and Aged Regional Transportation System (DARTS), and the Taxi Scrip Program. The ATS offers door-to-door, shared bus ride services to eligible and registered individuals. More information about ATS services, eligibility guidelines and application process is available on their website.
